Hemigraphis is a tropical ornamental foliage genus valued for its compact, spreading growth and richly textured leaves. Most famous for selections commonly called the Purple Waffle Plant, the genus is celebrated for its deeply puckered, metallic leaf surfaces and striking purple undersides. Hemigraphis works beautifully in shaded tropical gardens, terrariums, mixed containers, and hanging baskets where its trailing habit can be fully appreciated. Thriving in consistently moist soil and bright, indirect light, it provides excellent contrast and low-growing, colorful texture in both humid indoor collections and warm-climate landscapes.
